Frequently asked questions

Why is the non-registration free trial service being discontinued?

(To be clear, you can still have the trial if you register.) There has been a constant stream of unregistered free users continuously using this service. I love that this tool keeps bringing you all back whenever you need it, but that also comes at a cost for me. Unfortunately, the userbase here have grown to the point where even limiting it to one lookup per day per user is costing me a lot every month, so I have to pull the plug on the free once-per-day trial service to ensure the service can run forever for everyone. To the ones who have subscribed to support me and the free users, thank you very much <3.

Why shouldn't I call back phone numbers I don't recognize?

When you answer a phone, the line connects, and that notifies the caller that you've picked up the phone. In today's internet and services, spammers can easily create scripts to call thousands of phone numbers to see which of them picks up. And if you pick up or call back, you've notified them that this phone is a good target for marketing spam calls.

When should I call back regardless?

If you received a call on your personal phone, and you do not like people intruding into your personal phone space, use this. In other words, this service is for those who don't regularly receive unknown phone calls.

How is a score calculated?

The score is calculated by a wide range of factors that distinguishes between the majority of spammers and businesses and personal phones. The rating system is in its early stages and more improvements will be made When more users rate more phones.

Does this work with non-US phone numbers?

Yes and no. Yes, it will give you information about a phone number no matter where it is. No, the rating system isn't built for non-US phone numbers, so you may get an inaccurate score for non-US phones.

Why does this cost money?

I wish I could provide this service for free (I wouldn't have to deal with lots of legal and payment stuff). But to make this sustainable and pay for lookup fees and server costs, unfortunately, I need to.

How do refunds work?

There are no refunds for one-time credits, but there are refunds for subscriptions. If you choose to refund during the subscription period, you'll be charged only for the duration or monthly credits, whichever is greater.

How do you combat biases in the carrier ratings?

This issue is a tough one to solve, because not everyone will report a legitimate number here, so we end up having more negative ratings. But lots of ratings need to happen first in order for me to determine a viable solution, so I'm currently monitoring this issue as more ratings come in.

Can I remove my phone number information from this service?

There was a few of you who reached out to me regarding this concern. (To those people, thank you for reaching out to me). The data that is provided by this service is obtained from the same place that routes your calls. To those concerned about your name being on your Caller ID, that Caller ID will show up regardless whenever you call someone, so if you want to remove it, you need to call your carrier to get your Caller ID changed.
